Introduction
Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of traveling the world. My first real opportunity came when I was in university and I went to Paris and London with my two sisters. While still in school, I took part in summer exchange programs that enabled me to work and travel abroad a couple of summers. After graduation, I finally had the chance to take a gap year—a moment to explore the world without pressure to return home.
During my travels, I went to visit my sister in Switzerland. The cheapest flight included a layover in Turkey—a country I’d always dreamed of visiting after seeing pictures of Cappadocia online.
I realized I could book two separate flights, spending 10 days in Turkey for the same price as if I booked it to Switzerland. Despite my nerves—Turkey felt far and exotic—I decided to take the leap. 10 days seemed just enough to explore Istanbul and Cappadocia comfortably, and knowing I’d see my sister afterward made it feel safe.
Those 10 days were life-changing. By the end of my stay, I wished I could stay longer. That trip opened my eyes to the wonders of the world, the excitement of diving into the unknown, and the joy of connecting with new people and cultures.
After Turkey, my newfound confidence led me to travel solo across Greece, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Asia, South America, and beyond. Each destination fueled my curiosity and love for adventure, proving that the desire to explore can be bigger than any fear.
Building a Community of Travelers
While traveling solo, I quickly realized that meeting like-minded adventurers wasn’t easy. Hostels and random meetups only went so far, and scrolling through generic apps often felt frustrating and time-consuming. I wanted to connect with travelers who shared my interests, passions, and sense of adventure.
That’s how Gagago came to life. It’s a platform designed for solo travelers to meet, connect, and join curated group trips tailored to authentic experiences.
The goal isn’t just to travel together—it’s to build a meaningful travel community. For me, seeing a group of strangers come together on an adventure and leave as friends is the ultimate reward.
